The Rural Cultural Foundation are a constituted community organisation established in December 2017. The group is based in Marple (Cheshire) and aims to promote and enhance our community’s rural heritage, life and culture. The Rural Cultural Foundation hopes to strengthen our local community whilst enhancing educational opportunities and community enjoyment in our rural surroundings.
The foundation is led by various local persons who have established interests in the local area and community. Our committee members include members from the Friends of our Valley community group, the Mellor Archaeological Trust and Roman Lakes Leisure Park. We aim to work collaboratively with various organisations in the voluntary, public and private sectors to identify and address issues of affecting rural life.
The Rural Cultural Foundation’s main aims are:
- Enhancing opportunities for activities which bring our community together
- Rural crafts, arts and heritage promotion
- Ecology and environmental awareness and education
- Research and publication
- Advocacy
